Kerala Tour Itinerary

Experience the tropical splendor of God’s Own Country across Munnar’s sprawling tea estates and cascading falls, Thekkady’s wildlife sanctuaries and spice hills, and Alleppey’s world-renowned emerald backwaters.

Day 1 — Cochin to Munnar (150 kms / 4 hrs)

Arrival & Cheeyappara Falls

After arriving at Cochin airport or railway station, our representative will receive you and escort you on a scenic road journey to Munnar (approx. 150 kms / 4 hrs). Situated at the confluence of three mountain streams — Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundala — at an altitude of 1,600 metres above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British government in South India.

Today’s plan:

  • Scenic Mountain Drive & Cheeyappara Waterfall — travel through the scenic Western Ghats hills, stopping en-route to marvel at the cascading Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls.
  • Tea Plantation Country — take in sprawling tea plantations, picture-book hillside towns, and winding mist-clad lanes as you ascend into Munnar.
  • Hotel Check-in & Leisure — check in to your hotel. The rest of the day is completely free for leisure and relaxation amidst cool mountain breezes.

Day 2 — Munnar Local Sightseeing

Munnar Sights & Eravikulam

After a hearty breakfast, proceed for a memorable full-day sightseeing tour exploring the natural wonders, lakes, dams, and wildlife habitats of Munnar.

Today’s plan:

  • Mattupatty Dam & Lake — visit the famous gravity dam surrounded by lush green tea hills, ideal for scenic photography and lakeside strolls.
  • Echo Point — experience the natural acoustic phenomenon where your voice resonates across the misty mountain lake and forested hills.
  • Sprawling Tea Plantations — walk through rolling emerald tea gardens and learn about tea processing (Tea Museum/plantations closed on Mondays).
  • Eravikulam National Park (Rajamalai) — explore the habitat of the endangered mountain goat, the Nilgiri Tahr, offering panoramic vistas of Anamudi peak (Note: Closed during the breeding season).

Day 3 — Munnar to Thekkady (110 kms)

Thekkady & Periyar Lake

Morning after breakfast, continue your journey towards Thekkady (approx. 110 kms). Reaching there in a few hours, check into the resort and relax amidst spice-scented hills.

Today’s plan:

  • Spice Plantation Guided Tour — explore a wide variety of aromatic Kerala spices such as cardamom, black pepper, cinnamon, clove, and vanilla, with opportunities to shop for fresh plantation spices.
  • Periyar Lake Boat Cruise — travel by boat on Periyar Lake inside the wildlife sanctuary to spot wild elephants, bison, sambar deer, and diverse avifauna along the lake banks (boat cruises at sunrise and sunset are particularly recommended).
  • Evening at Leisure — explore local spice bazaars or enjoy traditional cultural performances before returning to your hotel.

Day 4 — Thekkady to Alleppey (100 kms) – Houseboat Cruise

Alleppey Houseboat Stay

After breakfast, check out from the hotel and drive to Alleppey (100 kms). Set out on an enchanting overnight backwater cruise in traditionally decorated houseboats (Kettuvallams).

Backwater cruise experience:

  • Check-in & Onboard Lunch (01:00 PM) — board your floating luxury villa and begin your cruise with a freshly prepared, authentic Kerala lunch served on board.
  • Cruising the Palm-Fringed Canals — skim past historic Chinese fishing nets, bowed-down green paddy fields, local inhabitants crafting coir products, rustic island homes, ancient temples, and swaying coconut groves.
